Well, having farm fresh eggs at your disposal and managing a farm life might be appealing to some but not everyone is skilled enough to look after hens. Here’s when Rent the Chicken comes to the rescue. Rent the Chicken rents you with all the supplies you need to keep hens. This includes two to four egg-laying hens, portable chicken coop, 40-90 kgs of feed which is 100% organic, food and water dishes and a guide on how to keep the hens. According to the company’s website, the eggs have ⅓ less cholesterol, ¼ less saturated fats, and 2 times more omega 3 fatty acids than the regular store eggs. Rent season starts from May to November which is the period when chickens lay the most eggs. They deliver the supplies and hens in the USA and Canada.

2. Fido to Go.

Fido to go is unique food truck that caters to dogs and cats in the city of Chicago and San Diego. They serve handmade cookies and frozen yogurt for your pets and the ingredients are gluten free, corn free, soy free, sugar-free with no preservatives or additives. The idea first struck to Donna Santucci, founder and owner of Fido to Go, when she started making wholesome and gluten-free treats for her dog Maddie. The treats soon became a hit amongst family and friends and so Donna decided to amalgamate her knowledge of pet grooming and healthy treats to start a food truck. Now, this gourmet truck is a favorite of many dogs and feline friends in the region.

3. We Rent Goats.

As the name suggests, they rent goats to remove weeds and unwanted plants from fields, open spaces, pastures, ravines, embankments. Why only goats? If you own a ranch or a farm you know how tedious it is to monitor and control unwanted grass and weed that spreads everywhere. Cows and sheep don’t eat most of the weed while some they simply can’t digest. Machines have a limited range and can’t clear weed from every nook and corner. As for herbicides, they leave unwanted chemicals and are expensive, but goats eat just about anything in minutes. The employees come and monitor the area that needs to clear. Once the property is measured and surveyed, they estimate the number of goats that will be required. Next, they deliver the goats and everything they will need for the day including water troughs and nutritional supplements. The employees monitor the goats and fence the property if required. 100 goats eat around half an acre of land in a day depending upon the vegetation.

Rover is an online community service that connects pet owners with around 20,000 pet sitters in North America to ” Pet sit” your pooch while you are away. The services include pet insurance, 24/7 customer support and daily photo updates of your buddy. The concept of Rover was first presented at the Startup Weekend contest in Seattle, Washington in 2011 and it managed to win the first prize that year with its innovative idea. In 2017 it acquired DogVacay which was a similar pet care website. Today, Rover provides services like:

  • Dog boarding where the sitter looks after your dog or cat for the night at your place while you are away.
  • Dog walking, where the sitters pick up your dog according to your schedule and take them for a walk
  • Doggy daycare where you can drop your dog for the daytime.
  • House-sitting or drop-ins

With 9.7/10 rating and an average of 5 stars from 3017 people, Rover is a trusted source that’ll take care of your dog when you’re not available and it costs half of what you’d pay to the local kennel.

5. Kittyo

Cats can take care of themselves for the most part, in some cases however they some owners like to keep a close watch over their feline friends while they are at work. If you’re someone who interacts with your cat while you’re at work too, then Kittyo is the perfect device for you. With this device, you can dispense your cat’s favorite treats, watch them play, speak to them, activate sounds to attract your cat and move laser for your cat to play with even when you are at work, miles away from her.
