All data point to the fact that nearly 80% of all forests on Earth are destroyed. The planet’s losing its natural resources, and the only reason is the human race. We all need to stand together and do something about it.
The first step we should all do is change the way we live and contribute to preserving nature. One important thing everyone must do is turn their home into an eco-friendly object. Of course, not everyone can do this, but at least one item from the list we created below will be enough for a great start.
If you want to help the planet survive, and stop being just a passive observant, here’s a list of things you can do that will make your house eco-friendly. Read on and make the changes if possible so you can help us save the planet together.
1. Install solar panels
The only reason we use giant power plants running on coal or fossil fuels is for profit. Instead of paying big corporations for their electricity that pollutes the environment, we should all install separate solar panels and use the energy coming from the sun and is free.
Let’s say you live in Australia’s sunny parts. Installing solar panels in Wangaratta, for example, will give you energy 23 days in January, as the sunniest month of the year, and additional 13 days in August as the month with the least sunny days. That means you’ll have free electricity that won’t pollute the planet most of the time.
2. Invest in perfect insulation
During the coldest and the hottest months, we need to turn on our homes’ cooling and heating devices. Maintaining a perfect temperature is much easier with better insulation. Perfect insulation won’t let the heat and the cold air disappear through the walls, which is why you want to invest in it.
When you do this, you’ll start wasting less energy to keep the ideal temperature in your home. That means you require less energy, and the power plants will need to work less, polluting only partially. If we all do this, the pollution can go down as much as 50%.
3. Add sensors to turn on and off all your faucets
Did you know that the average person wastes around 80-100 gallons of water per day ? If we could cut this number for at least a couple of gallons daily, we would save a massive amount, which will help us use pure natural water for a longer period.
Natural water resources are depleting fast, and with this tempo, we will soon be out of freshwater. Installing sensors on every faucet that will turn the water off when you’re not using it can save tremendous amounts.
4. Reuse everything you can
We often buy plastic straws, cups, and all kinds of products that are later thrown in the garbage. It’s much smarter to use your own items and not pollute the environment with these things. Paper towels can be changed with cloth towels, and the same goes for cups, straws, and everything you use regularly.
The average person has never seen a landfill in person, so they don’t realize the problem of pollution when we throw away these things. Reuse everything you can in your home, and make it more eco-friendly.
5. Plant as many plants as possible
One great issue in overcrowded cities is the problem with fresh air. Tons of cars, industry and home heating are often causing cities to become inhabitable. The solution is more plants. Trees and bushes turn CO2 into oxygen, so planting more trees and flowers will add value.
Plant as more as possible of them on your terraces or in the yard. Some houses have wonderful green roofs, so if you have the chance for this, it will both look amazing and add value to the place you live in.
These five points will help you turn your ordinary house into an eco-friendly home that will help in the battle for saving the planet. It’s a topic that everyone should be interested in, and everyone should contribute as much as possible. If possible, use as many of these points as you can, and create a natural oasis in the middle of the concrete desert.
