Remove Any Standing Water:  Make sure you dump out any standing close to your home. Mosquitoes can breed in just 14 days in a minute. And they can achieve this process with any standing water in an old flower pot, bird bath or rain gutter. If you have a pond, make sure you add fishes that eat mosquitoes; fishes like minnows, guppies, or mosquito fish. You can add a fountain or waterfall, to make it keep moving. If you don’t like that option, you can treat the water with natural bacteria called Bacillus thuringiensis.  It kills mosquito larvae but is harmless to people, pets and plants.

Wear Bright Colors: the known fact is that mosquitoes are attracted to dark colors just as they hate lights or bright day because they can’t see much during the day. When mosquitoes are active during dusk, the contrasting dark-colored clothes provide against the horizon. So avoid wearing dark colors especially during the day, but wearing light-colored clothing is the best way keeps mosquitoes away from you. Furthermore, try not to go overboard with bright colors, as these are known to attract stinging insects like wasps. So go for neutral, and pastel-colored clothes help to prevent mosquito’s bites.

Get An Insect Net: you much have woken up to find yourself covered with mosquitoes’ bites and spots of blood too. It is because, when conditions are favorable; mosquito’s eating experience can lead well into the night.  This can be prevented with the use of an insect net.  When you traveled, it is a good idea to check that your room has either insect screens on the doors and windows or mosquito net around the bed.

Cover Up: Mosquitoes will bite on any area of exposed skin more often than not. So it is a good idea to wear long-sleeved clothing to prevent mosquito bites.  Just try and cover up yourself, I know it must be uncomfortable wearing long sleeves on warm climates, long sleeves shirt and linen pants are both excellent options, but that doesn’t mean you have to wear jeans and sweater inside your home. Check other options if you are having trouble with mosquitoes inside your home.

Get Insect Repellent: insect repellent is your best friend when it comes to avoiding mosquito bite; it is one of the most effective ways. Insect repellents are sold in local supermarket or pharmacy; apply in expose areas of the skin.  Those products that include DEET claim to be the most effective, but if you are allergic to it, there are other alternatives out there. Make sure you apply the repellent before you leave your house to avoid being bitten by mosquitoes especially during the later hour of the day. Remember always to follow the product instruction carefully.
