The first two destinations that normally pop up in our mind when we plan for a trip are mountains and beaches. Both are equally awesome choice to plan a holiday and in last it narrows down to our personal choice. If you decide to go to hilly area then the next thing you need to do is to pack for the trip. Packing a bag can often lead to tricky situation as we want to pack everything that we might need, but we also don’t want to be burdened by the luggage on the trip. The key to light packing is to pack smartly. You should always start by making a list of things that you a need to take with you on the trip. 1. Woolen clothes

When anyone goes for vacation, they want to look good and take loads of pictures. We are often focused on packing trendy clothes that make us look good. But along with that we shouldn’t forget to pack woolen clothes. Two or three war-over jackets, sweaters and pullovers are enough for a trip lasting for a week. You should also invest in good quality mufflers, gloves and caps to save yourself from cold. You should also pack at least 5-6 good pairs of socks. As hilly stations in summers aren’t that cold, a down jacket and fleece will be sufficient. It is always a good idea to carry a windcheater with you, never knowing how the climate will turn out.

2. Shoes

Shoes are probably one of those items which are often overlooked while packing. When going for a trip on hilly areas it is a major probability that you are going to do a lot of foot activities such as climbing, walking, trekking. If you are not careful, wearing the wrong sort of shoes can leave you tired and exasperated very soon.and with sore feet you cannot fully enjoy your vacation. You should take quality shoes with you that are especially made for snow walking and trekking. You should also carry slip proof shoes to wear inside and outside of hotel premises. There is no need to carry heels and loafers with you on this trip.

3. Medicine

Another essential thing to carry with you on the trip always is medicines. Due to long times spent in flights, trains, buses and cabs, our body can get pretty tired easily from the trip alone, especially if we are not used to traveling long distances. Plus, it also has to adjust in totally different climatic conditions. While going up and down on the hills in vehicles, people tend to suffer from motion sickness. You should always carry a first aid kit along with cold and motion sickness medicine.

4. Camera

With every passing second, our present is turning into memories. Whether you are travelling with friends, family or even alone, you should always carry a camera with you to capture and cherish the memories for lifetime. Nowadays smart phones come equipped with really good cameras but nothing beats the charm of pictures clicked with the camera. You will never regret investing in a good quality camera.

While we are travelling we are always on the road rushing from one place to another. Oftentimes we are in places where people don’t speak the same language as us or we are confused about deciding about restaurants, shops or hotels. In today’s world where we rely on our smart phones for all such things, we feel anxious when we are travelling without it. To ensure your phones are always working and on, you should always carry power banks with you all the time.

6. Cash

In the world of debit cards, QR codes and plastic money, we often forget about the necessities of carrying cash with us. Although, now nearly everywhere credit card is accepted but there may be still some vendors and shop owners who may not have such facility. Hills stations are normally major tourist attractions during holiday season and you will not want to spend part of your trip standing in long ATM queues. You should carry enough cash with you beforehand for the duration of your stay to make sure you are not wasting any second of it.

7. Skin care

Hills stations are situated on high altitudes that mean the weather there is usually cold and dry. Our skin isn’t used to experiencing weather like this. We should take extra care of our skin during the trip. Many people believe hilly stations mean no sun; hence there is no need for sunscreen. But the sun rays there are much sharper than in normal plain areas. You should always put a lot of sunscreen on your skin to prevent it from getting tanned or sun burnt. You should also carry a good winter cream with you all the time in order to look good in travel pictures. To prevent your lips from getting chapped and parched, don’t forget to apply lip balms on a regular interval.
