What you can do to enjoy a day at the beach

South Goa beaches

Whether you’re lounging by the ocean or relaxing by the pebbled sands of a lake, an outing with your family is always a pleasant trip. Of course, not everything is idyllic: mosquitoes, blazing heat, or cold winds can all conspire to ruin your sunny day. That is why a combination of protective techniques, such as a shoulder wrap, is necessary. Whether you’re going to the lake or the ocean this summer, here’s all you need to ensure a successful family excursion.

Reject plastic:

To begin, abstain from all forms of plastic! There is a reason why wildlife enthusiasts and environmentalists from all over the world have been organising protests and chanting, “Say no to plastic!” Nothing degrades nature more than plastic, and if people don’t act now, the human population will face the consequences. Begin by utilising reusable items such as metal water bottles, wooden utensils, jute and cloth bags.

Sit beneath an umbrella or cover up with natural sunscreen:

By refraining from using conventional, chemical-laden sunscreens, you will be assisting the ocean greatly. The majority of sunscreens contain octinoxate and oxybenzone, the two ingredients that bleach ocean water. So you can sit beneath a windproof umbrella. These components build up in corals and eventually kill them. Rather than that, you can sit in the shade, wrap your shoulders in a shoulder wrap, or use mineral-based sunscreens.

Get a large mesh bag.

Storing plastic pails, shovels, and action figures in a conventional canvas tote stops toys from drying, promoting mildew growth. Rather than that, invest in a mesh laundry bag that will keep the toys contained while allowing water to drain as you head back to the car.

Dress in layers.

Early mornings on the seaside, even in July, can be chilly, while midday can feel downright tropical. And when the midday wind hits, it can quickly become uncomfortably chilly. Dress your children (and yourself) in layers that are simple to put on and take off, such as a T-shirt, button-up or pullover hoodie, and an external water-resistant shell.

Sandcastles are not enjoyable for seashore animals:

Making castles is arguably among the most enjoyable activities that beachgoers can do on a beach. However, these structures are not enjoyable for beach-going animals. Bear in mind that you are not alone; tortoises, turtles, and various other living creatures frequent beaches. The majority of these animals become entangled in the massive sand constructions. Therefore, when you play in the sand and construct anything, be sure to level it before leaving.

Warning about wildlife

While part of the attraction of swimming in the ocean is observing aquatic animals in their natural habitat, it is critical to maintaining a safe distance. Observing a sea turtle eat is a wishlist experience – do not ruin it by attempting to touch the turtle’s shell or interfering with its routine. Flags in purple or blue signify jellyfish or other potentially harmful animals. If stung, immediately contact the lifeguards or seek medical attention.

Riptides do exist

Submerged hazards such as strong surf, undertow, and rip currents may rapidly transform a leisurely paddle into a severe catastrophe. Spend a few minutes watching videos of a riptide to get familiar with the indications and to review the water safety abilities of any group members who are weak swimmers.

Before travelling to the beach, go through these beach safety guidelines with your party. Taking the necessary precautions to have a fantastic summer vacation also entails planning for the unexpected. Maintain the safety and wellness of your group so they may return to the seaside the following year.
