The 5 Best Tag Heuer Watches A Man Can Buy 2020

Share

Tag Heuer is best known for its chronographs: a genre of timepieces that it excelled in so extensively that it once produced them for many of its famous Swiss rivals, including Rolex. Its founder, Édouard Heuer, was an inventor and innovator and something of an outsider. He started his 19th century watchmaking business in the village of St-Imier and became a central part of watchmaking history.

1. Tag Heuer Carrera

The Carrera, the first chronograph specifically designed to measure car races, was launched in 1964 to commemorate the Carrera Panamericana, the notoriously hair-raising Mexican road race that eventually brought it to a standstill, with a high number of deaths. To mark the 160th anniversary of Tag Heuer, various iterations were launched in 2020 that are widely viewed as milestones in watch design.

2. Tag Heuer Carrera

The silver-on-silver design of this model is part of a line of limited edition Carreras launched to mark the brand’s 160th birthday. It is the last word in the “classic men’s watch”. It may look like it’s straight from the dashboard of a 1960s sports car, but all of 2020 tech is there – namely, the in-house automatic Heuer 02 movement from day with a power reserve of more than 80 hours. Limited to 1860 pieces – you count.

3. Tag Heuer Carrera

Subtract the sporty stylings from the Carrera and the result is a pleasantly classic dress watch. This model combines day and date displays with a clear, clean design and is also harder than it looks – with a power reserve of 38 hours and water resistance of 100 m.

4. Tag Heuer Formula 1

A chronograph with a racing motif with sporty neon green reflections on the second hand, markings and strap seams. Manufactured in collaboration with Aston Martin (Tag Heuer is the official timekeeper of the Red Bull Racing F1 team; Aston Martin is the title sponsor), the logo and the name of the car brand appear on the dial and case back.

5. Tag Heuer x Aston Martin

Another limited edition and not one for wallflowers. This model measures a substantial 45 mm and combines an unusual brown dial with rose gold-plated accents. Manufactured in collaboration with Aston Martin, the luxury car brand’s styling is reflected in the logos at 12 o’clock and 6 o’clock and the brown calfskin strap that fits inside. The case uses both titanium and carbon, which, according to Tag Heuer, enables this watch to be “just as durable as the cars that inspire it”. You need deep pockets and you have to hurry – only 150 were produced.
