It’s been a few years since Apple and Epic Games went head-to-head in one of tech’s most public legal slugfests. The end result? iPhone users lost access to Fortnite, and the internet’s been asking one question ever since: When is Fortnite coming back to iOS?
As of mid-2025, the answer isn’t “someday”—it’s “right now,” at least if you’re in the U.S. or Europe. The game is officially back, but how you get it depends on where you are and what device you’ve got in hand.

Back in 2020, Fortnite was booted from the App Store after Epic decided to sidestep Apple’s in-app payment system. Apple didn’t like that. Lawsuits flew, Twitter got spicy, and gamers were left out in the cold.
Years passed. Courts ruled. Apple had to make space for alternative payment systems. And finally—finally—Epic squeezed Fortnite back into the iPhone ecosystem.
If you’re in the United States, as of May 20, 2025, Fortnite is once again available in the iOS App Store. You can search for it, download it, and start dropping into matches just like old times.
In the EU, things are a little more flexible. Thanks to Europe’s Digital Markets Act, Epic is allowed to run its own app store, so iOS users can get Fortnite through that route too.
Other countries? Still waiting. Epic hasn’t said exactly when Fortnite will be live again elsewhere, but it’s likely on their roadmap.

In the EU, you’ll need to install Epic’s third-party store or AltStore PAL, a platform allowed under new EU digital laws.
That’s normal. If you’re not in the U.S. or EU, Fortnite’s still unavailable in local App Stores. You could try cloud gaming platforms like GeForce NOW as a workaround, but you won’t get the full iOS app experience yet.
