Top #5 Bank Exams That Job Seekers Should Attempt

Share

Freshers and most people looking for a job today are seeking job security and financial stability due to the widespread outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic and the uncertainty & unemployment it has caused. When it comes to job security and financial stability, banking jobs are the obvious choices. In this article, we will list down the must-take exams that will help you bag a lucrative job in the banking sector.

1. SBI PO

The role of a probationary officer (bank PO) is one of the most sought after ones in the banking sector and the SBI PO is the most popular choice amongst aspirants. A pay package between 8 to 13 lakhs per annum, a substantial pension after retirement to ensure financial stability along with tons of benefits such as medical insurance, dearness allowance (DA), travel allowance, subsidized loan rates etc make it clearly show why 25 lakh+ applicants attempt the bank PO exams each year.

2. IBPS PO

IBPS PO is the other alternative choice for those of you looking to become a bank PO. Around 10 – 15 banks participate in the IBPS PO recruitment process each year and up to 5000 vacancies might be on offer. If you are targeting the bank PO role then it is advisable to apply for both the IBPS PO and SBI PO to ensure that you maximize your chances of getting selected. The syllabus and exam pattern for the SBI PO and IBPS PO are very similar but the difficulty level of the IBPS PO is slightly lower than that of the SBI PO.

3. RBI Grade B

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) conducts the RBI Grade B process each year to recruit Grade B officers for its offices across India. The annual CTC for an RBI Grade B office is 12 – 14 LPA which makes it one of the most lucrative career options in the banking sector. Apart from the handsome package, an official vehicle and luxurious accommodation are also provided by the RBI for Grade B officers. RBI Grade B officers can even go on to become an RBI Governor eventually if they work hard. As enticing as the RBI Grade B role sounds, the recruitment process is extremely difficult.

4. RBI Assistant

If you don’t like customer facing roles then the RBI assistant recruitment process is the best choice for you. This recruitment process also doesn’t involve an interview which is also an added advantage for those who can’t handle the nerves or who get very anxious. The RBI Assistant process is conducted each year to shortlist 500 – 1000 deserving candidates for vacant clerical roles.  The gross salary of an RBI assistant is around Rs. 36,000 which makes it a more compelling choice as compared to the IBPS Clerk and SBI clerk exams which are also held to recruit candidates for the clerical cadre.

5. IBPS Clerk & SBI Clerk

The IBPS clerk is a collective recruitment process conducted by the IBPS to fill clerical positions for around 10-14 well established banks such as the Canara bank, Allahabad bank, Bank of Baroda (BOB), Indian Overseas Bank (IOB), Punjab National Bank (PNB) etc whereas the SBI clerk is held annually by the State Bank of India to fill vacant clerical positions in its 24000+ branches across India. Each of these two exams usually offer over 7,000 vacancies.  Any graduate can attempt these exams and these are probably the easiest of the bank exams in terms of difficulty level. The competition however is ruthless with over 20 lakh aspirants applying for each of these exams.

Other Popular Recruitment Processes are:

  • IBPS SO (IBPS Specialist Officer)
  • IBPS RRB (IBPS Regional Rural Bank)
  • NABARD Grade A & Grade B Officer Recruitment(National Bank for Agricultural & Rural Development)
  • NABARD Development Assistant Recruitment
  • BOB PO (Bank of Baroda PO)

Other reputed/private banks such as the IDBI and ICICI conduct their own recruitment processes to onboard talented individuals for mid or senior level positions in the organization.

It is advisable to keep checking the official websites of all these organizations on a regular basis. The best part about most of the bank exams is that people with varied skill-sets can find suitable roles in the banking sector and the basic eligibility criteria for most exams is just a graduate degree. A level playing field is also ensured by testing aspirants for basic aptitude, communication skills and logical reasoning.

Apply now and start gearing up for the exams!

We wish you the best for your endeavors ahead.
