Tips on How to Arrange Your Bedroom

Share

The average bedroom size for most Australian homes is 3.2 x 3 meters. This size is enough space for a double bed, a desk, and a wardrobe to comfortably fit. However, you can make it look bigger with a good layout.

One way to make a bedroom seem bigger than it is is by using modern bedroom furniture. It will give your bedroom a sleek, sophisticated look. It will also give your room an uncluttered look.

It is important to arrange your bedroom right. A well-arranged bedroom will help improve your mood and can even improve your sleep. It will allow you to be rested, so you have the strength to face another day, no matter how hectic.

There are many ways on how you can arrange your bedroom. So here are some tips that can help you out:

Position your bed right

Traditionally, beds are placed opposite the door and on the centre of the wall to make it the room’s central feature. However, you don’t have to follow this. Instead, place the bed in the most convenient place in your room.

It would be best not to put your bed under a window, especially if it is frequently open. An open window creates uncomfortable drafts. What you can do instead is position it between two windows. However, if your room is air-conditioned, you can place your bed under the window.

Another thing you need to remember is to ensure that you place your bed in an area where it does not obstruct a door into the room. You have to clear any walkway to ensure that people can get in and out without a problem.

Eliminate clutter

One way to make a bedroom look and feel bigger is by eliminating clutter. You don’t have to put in a lot of furniture, only the ones you need. For example, you don’t need to have two bedside tables or an extra bookshelf. If it does not have any use, don’t put it in your bedroom.

You can have one chair for reading or lounging. However, you don’t need to have a sofa in your bedroom, especially if your room is not big.

Also, do not buy new items unless you need them. Arrange what you have first, so you will know what you need. If you need something, make sure that you get the right dimensions to fit your room right. It will also help if you choose modern bedroom furniturebecause it is more functional and sleeker.

Place your area rug properly

An area rug is not a piece of furniture, but this will add character to your room. It is usually placed on the lower two-thirds of the bed to provide a nice comfy spot to step on in the morning. However, you can also place it in the centre of your bedroom.

Do not be afraid to experiment

The guidelines that you read about on how to arrange your bedroom is just that — a guideline. It will still be up to you how you want your bedroom to look and feel. So, do not be afraid to experiment. Find a layout you like. Rearrange it if it does not suit you. Find out what you like, and stick to it even if it is unconventional.

Making your bedroom a sanctuary can take up a lot of your time. However, all that time is worth it because it is where you rest and recharge.
