3 Medical Supply Items that are Helpful to Own at Home

Share

Medical emergencies can occur anywhere and at any time. Approximately 21 million annual hospital visits are as a result of injuries that have occurred at home and by accident. Unfortunately, some of these injuries have resulted in death or irreversible damage. Besides having a well-stocked first aid kit, it is essential to consider medical items, such as laser safety glasses, for accident prevention.

Eye Shield or Pad

When working with chemicals, whether at home or work, it is essential for you to protect every part of your body that is likely to come into contact with the chemicals. Many people remember to wear protective gear to protect most parts of their bodies but forget about the eyes. Your eyes are quite sensitive, and some of these chemicals might have irreversible damage to your eyesight.

Laser protective glasses are not just functional, but they are also stylish. .If you hate wearing eye shields because of their appearance, today you can get one that suits your style and in your favorite color. They are both functional and stylish.

Antiseptic solutions and towelettes

Getting scrapes and cuts on the body are common in homes, especially if you have children around. It is so easy for a wound to become infected due to negligence or improper cleaning. Having an antiseptic solution in the house will ensure you get to perform first aid as soon as possible. Very few people go to the hospital for minor cuts and grazes.

When buying antiseptic solutions, it is essential for you to purchase one that is gentle on the wounds. It should be able to kill germs without causing any irritation or causing the injury to become worse.

Sterile bandages and roller gauze

Bandages should be in your first aid kit. Scrapes, shallow cuts, and abrasions may seem minor, and sometimes they heal naturally. However, it is best to tend to the wounds immediately. Using bandages ensures the wound does not become infected. A wound that is left open is susceptible to germs, and this can turn a minor injury into a worse one.

There are different types of bandages. The nature of the wound will determine the kind of dressing you will use. Most minor injuries require an adhesive bandage. Alternatively, you may use gauze with tape. Other types of bandages that you should have in your first aid kit include waterproof adhesive bandages, sheer strips, bandages made from flexible woven fabric, and heavyweight bandages.

Neglecting to stock on medical supplies can have a devastating outcome, especially in cases where injuries could have been prevented. Since accidents are inevitable at home, it is essential to have everything you need just in case it happens.

Sometimes you may not have the time or means to get to a hospital fast enough to prevent extensive damage to parts of your body, especially sensitive areas like your eyes. Prevention of accidents is always best, but in case one happens, you are safer having the solution at hand, at least until you see a doctor.
