How New Sellers can get a Good Ranking on Amazon?

Share

Don’t listen to anyone who tells you different- selling on Amazon is no easy feat. There is an incredible amount of competition out there, and the sheer number of people trying to sell similar products means some people will always fail. If you don’t want to fall into this category of unsuccessful sellers, you need to make sure you get a good ranking on the site. This isn’t easy either, and you certainly won’t be the only person trying to boost their Amazon ranking. But what actually are these rankings, and how do you improve yours? Don’t worry, we’re here to tell you everything about how you, as a new seller, can get a good ranking on Amazon.

So what are these Amazon rankings, and how are they determined? The rankings work in a similar way to how Google determines what sites come up first on their search engine when people search online. The products on Amazon with the highest rankings will appear first when people search for them, giving them more of a chance of being purchased. The rankings are decided by Amazon’s A9 algorithm, which uses a number of factors to create a kind of league table. More or less, the higher your ranking then the more likely you are to sell your product.

Products with the most sales tend to be at the top of these rankings, which is why it’s so difficult for new sellers to get their products seen. That’s why you need to know how to boost your ranking- but how do you do this?

You can start by having some really good keywords in your product description. These keywords are what buyers will be typing into the Amazon search bar, so if you choose them wisely your product will have an increased ranking and will be more likely to show up for people searching for products like yours. Make them direct and to the point- any unneeded words will just take up space and will be detrimental to your ranking. Take your time to carefully select these keywords and your ranking will benefit greatly.

You also need to select the images which showcase your product carefully. The majority of people decide what product they’re going to buy based on the pictures they see, so making your product look appealing will boost your rankings greatly. Try using different angles, make them bright and clear and show off all the important aspects that set your product apart. People will be more likely to buy your product is it looks good, and your ranking on Amazon will therefore get a big boost. This will make it more likely that you’ll achieve more sales in the future, giving you a win-win situation.

You should also monitor your ranking over time. It’s pretty easy to do this and it’ll help you a great deal. You’ll be able to judge whether or not the keywords, images and sales tactics you’re currently using are working, and will be able to make any necessary adjustments accordingly.
