After debuting the technology in the iPhone 14 for the first time later this year, Apple could offer its ProMotion display technology, which allows for a faster 120Hz refresh rate, across all models of the 2022 iPhone lineup.
In September, Apple will introduce a new iPhone, most likely dubbed the iPhone 13. According to a recent mock leak, the iPhone 13 would have a similar design to the iPhone 12 but with internal upgrades. Apple has also made the iOS 15 public beta available, allowing anyone to sign up for a copy of the software before it is officially released later this year.
Initial rumors claimed that the iPhone 13 might be a foldable device but the chances of that are quite next to nothing. Additionally, recent reports claim that there will be an on-screen fingerprint sensor which is an unexpected change.
Apple is reorganizing its mobile range for the iPhones released in 2022. Unlike the iPhone 12 and the next iPhone 13, which have one 5.4-inch, two 6.1-inch, and one 6.7-inch model, tentatively dubbed ” iPhone 14,” will have two 6.1-inch and two 6.7-inch models in 2022.
Apple is expected to incorporate a 120Hz refresh rate in this year’s iPhone 13 lineup, but only on the high-end iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max, according to reports. ProMotion technology is not likely to be included in the lower-end iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini. Apple has chosen two different display vendors for the iPhone 13 series.
Apple will use Samsung panels for the LTPO displays for the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max, which allegedly began production in May. Apple, on the other hand, will rely on LG for the lower-end iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini, which will utilize LTPS panels.
While this is merely speculation, there are grounds to suspect Apple will take this path. Apart from screen sizes and coatings, the high-end and low-end iPhones currently share the same basic iPhone design. The only substantial variations between the versions are battery capacities, data transfer capabilities, and camera capabilities, which are based on the same notch-based design that debuted with the iPhone X.
Apple could be contemplating its most dramatic design update to the iPhone in years next year, with some models perhaps ditching the notch in favor of a “punch-hole” design. According to Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, some iPhone models in 2022 won’t have a notch, instead opting for a “punch-hole display design” similar to Samsung’s high-end Galaxy handsets. We’ll have to wait a while longer to see what rumors and speculations are true and which are pure fiction. It is not uncommon for Apple to be tight-lipped about its latest ventures hence we’ll have to wait for the release of the latest addition to the iPhone lineup to see if it’s a major step-up or step-down for the Silicon-Valley based tech giants.
